We recently had Kimberly Reynolds as a speaker for our staff members.  The day was filled with great information on finding the perfect balance of eating right, exercise and health awareness.  Kimberly is full of energy and brought enthusiasm and a sense of excitement to our doctors and staff.  We feel confident that due to positive and reasonable affirmations that everyone left the day filled with precious information to become more conscious and responsible for our own wellbeing.

Young Woman Success Story - Before I met Dr. Reynolds I assumed I was a typical young woman. A young American woman whose every waking moment was consumed with thoughts of what my next "meal" would consist of, when I could eat it and how could I get rid of the calories ASAP. At any given time I was emmersed in the diet trick Du Jour. As a result I was hungry, cranky, over weight and listless. How excited could I be when all my energy was spent worrying over food!?

After meeting Kimberly I had a new obsession: How can I be like her/that? How can I look like her, have Joie de Vivre like her, dance like her.... the list goes on. The best part about THIS obsession was there was an answer, a real down to earth easy to understand, had this been staring me in the face this whole time ANSWER.

After meeting with Dr. Reynolds one of the first assignments was to keep a food diary. What an eye opener. We could look at this black and white evidence together and tweek the triggers that had me sabotaging my body and my metabolism. She had me perform a base line fitness test. Took my measurements and calculated my body fat percentage.

My struggle was with food. I have always been fairly active and athletic, but I was anorexic all through college. I was ammenoraic for 6 years as a result. When I met Dr. Reynolds I had done some extensive treatment for my eating disorder, but the result was a never ending internal battle with food. And I was now over weight. Not a happy place for a former skin and bones girl.

The real benefit came after Dr. Reynolds taught me what real food does in the body. I will never forget one of the initial "homework lessons"..... for me to eat scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast every *shreik* morning for the following week. I thought, I will gain 10 pounds! I can't DO THAT!!! But sure enough, I sat down enjoyed every bite with out guilt and wasn't hungry for another plate of eggs the rest of the day. The point is she taught me the benefits of EATING and enjoying.

When my relationship with food changed, my life changed. Instead of thinking about my next snack, I had energy to dance through life. Real energy to play, have children , work, exercise ( and relish it!) and have a relationship with food that was healthy for the first time in my life.

I met Dr. Reynolds 17 years ago. I have been my ideal weight for the past 16 years. I do not diet. I do not consume diet food. I am no longer afraid of calories, fat and carbohydrates. Through Dr.Reynolds example. training and coaching I love life.... with scrambled eggs and cheese.

Wendy D- 43 year old Woman - "When I first met Dr. Reynolds, it was hard for me to get motivated, I didn't have a exercise regimen, nor did I want one ! Our first consultation consisted of going over nutrition, food groups, calories, basically the healthy way of eating and trying to change my unhealthy lifestyle. She took my measurements, and I started a food diary .We started exercising and she instructed me on the correct techniques of using free weights and cardio equipment. It has been over a year now and I've lost weight ,inches, firmed up , built up muscle mass and I feel GREAT ! She has also helped me on skin care and given me pointers about the aging process and what I should do to keep my skin looking younger. She is very motivational and full of energy, which is very inspiring to me ! The best part is, I can call her any time for advice and she is available and eager to answer any questions that I may have. I truly recommend her to EVERYONE. I am currently still exercising with her 3-5 times a week and now I look forward to going to the gym !!"

This Week’s Health Tip

Get Some ZZZ’s

Not getting enough ZZZ’s could be hazardous to your health. Inadequate sleep is related to increased plaque development, elevated blood pressure, and increased risk for type 2 diabetes. It can also make you fat! Individuals, who feel tired, eat to get some energy. What they really need is a good night’s sleep or a “power nap.” Furthermore, lack of sleep alters cognitive function so that memory, reasoning and emotional responses may be altered.
