Creating a Good Life
Longevity, Health and Well Being
When I was young girl, I lived with my grandparents. At the age of 10, I was a secondary caregiver to my bedridden grandmother who had multiple co-morbid conditions: heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and eventually dementia. I remember thinking, "I never want to live (or die) like this. I don't want to grow old!" Intuitively, I knew at that young age there had to be a different way of living: with less obesity, fewer doctor visits, less medication, more joy, more life. I have been a life long student of common sense ways to live healthy, without gimmicks, bridging scientific fact with real life advice.
Welcome to the new idea of Anti-Aging. If you give some thought to that phrase, you'll see that if you don't age; you die. Life is very short. Aging is the natural progression of time. Along with that passage of time, a lot of good things occur in our lives. We have meaningful relationships, joyful experiences, intellectual growth, fulfilling careers and hopefully good health. How well we age or anti-age depends on the way we live.
Let's think of anti-aging as a way to live as to prevent the negative aspect of aging. Skin wrinkling, weight gain, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol may be prevented or postponed. Why not employ strategies such as nutrition, exercise, stress management and balance so that we live longer, have more passion, take fewer medications, and have fewer physician visits.
La Bonne Vie offers individuals a common sense approach to aging well. We help groups and individuals create a framework for living that supports good health, longevity and well being. No gimmicks... Just good science and common sense. So don't anti age...take the journey and create a good life.
This Week’s Health Tip
Get Some ZZZ’s
Not getting enough ZZZ’s could be hazardous to your health. Inadequate sleep is related to increased plaque development, elevated blood pressure, and increased risk for type 2 diabetes. It can also make you fat! Individuals, who feel tired, eat to get some energy. What they really need is a good night’s sleep or a “power nap.” Furthermore, lack of sleep alters cognitive function so that memory, reasoning and emotional responses may be altered.
